Cheese sold in OH recalled for possible Listeria contamination

When that February 2 recall got expanded on February 9, the company forgot to include Florida as a place products in the second recall were sold.

Those include Sliced Colby-Jack Cheese, Sliced Pepper Jack Cheese, Chef Blends Shredded Taco Cheese, Off The Block Shredded Fine Cut Colby-Jack Cheese and Off The Block Shredded Fine Cut Cheddar Jack Cheese.

Ruth's first recall notice on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration site says random testing by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture discovered its listeria problem.

There have been no reports of illness caused by eating the products.

Listeria problems in IN and North Carolina reached down to Florida as Publix notified customers of two recent recalls.

Sell-by dates vary from April 12 to July 9 of this year.

Last weekend Sargento Foods, Inc. announced that packages of their Chef Blends Shredded Nacho & Taco Cheese and Ultra Thin Sliced Longhorn Colby have to be recalled "due to a potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes". Some of these products were distributed in Pennsylvania.

MDS Foods recalled products found to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes and other products that may have been contaminated.

No one has gotten sick from the contamination thus far, and the recall announcement was made out of an abundance of caution after a sample of cheese from Deutsch Kase Haus tested positive for listeria.

The cheese products were packaged in clear plastic and sold primarily in retail stores at deli counters and deli cases.

The recalled products include Tuscan Style Mushrooms, Stuffed Mushrooms, Southwest Stuffed Mushrooms, Marketside Garlic Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms and Ready Fresh Go Fruit and Hatch Pepper Cheese.

The recalled foods have "best-by" dates between January 19 and February 17 of this year. Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms like high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
